Therapy is a collaborative process of self-discovery and personal growth. I focus on helping my clients through the development of greater self-understanding, self-awareness and self-acceptance. I want to support you in making the changes you desire, and to live your life to the fullest. I treat a wide range of clinical issues and invite clients of diverse identities and backgrounds into my therapy practice--all are welcome here. I specialize in working with complex and single incident trauma, sexual/relational trauma, interpersonal relationship issues, anxiety and mood disorders, life transitions, identity exploration, and general stress reduction.
I am certified as a Developmental Disability Mental Health Specialist in the state of Washington. I have experience working with people across the lifespan, including children ages 3-12, pre-teens and teenagers, and adults in various stages of life. In my work with children, I use developmentally appropriate modalities, such as play therapy, activity therapy, and expressive arts in order to help my youth clients reduce symptoms, develop coping strategies, and increase positive feelings of self-worth. I am also trained in Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), which is a parent training modality aimed to enhance and strengthen the parent-child relationship through improved family interactions and problem-solving strategies. CPRT will be offered periodically in a class format; however, individual CPRT can always be requested.
In addition to talk and play therapy, I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy. EMDR is a highly effective form of trauma treatment that can help people heal from overwhelming life events that contribute to chronic stress and emotional and physical distress. I also often utilize art therapy, sand-tray therapy, mindfulness, and other experiential and somatic techniques in order to individualize treatment options and facilitate various modes of exploration and expression.
